Send personal ticket invitations in Connect

Connect Web

Create email-bound invitations, choose free or paid tickets, and follow up on acceptance and expiry.

A personal ticket invitation gives a particular person access to a particular ticket type. It is created in Happenings and tied to the recipient’s email address. This is different from sharing an ordinary event link.

If anyone with the same link should be able to buy, use an unlisted event with a ticket open to everyone instead.

Where do we send invitations?

Open Connect, select your page and go to Events → select the event → Invitations.

Create an invitation ticket first

Invitations require a ticket type with invitation-only eligibility. The wording may differ slightly between views.

If the event does not have that ticket type, the Invitations tab shows Create invitation ticket instead of Send invitation.

  1. Select Create invitation ticket, or open the event’s Tickets.
  2. Create or edit the ticket type the invitations should apply to.
  3. Set the name, price, quantity and sale window, and select the invitation requirement.
  4. Save and return to Invitations.

Event visibility is a separate setting. An unlisted event can have a ticket that requires a personal invitation. If only invited people should buy, the event must not also offer another ticket open to everyone.

Send the invitation

  1. Select Send invitation.
  2. Select the ticket type.
  3. Choose the invitation mode:
    • Free comp ticket: accepting the invitation gives the recipient a free ticket.
    • Paid — recipient pays the stated price: the invitation gives access to buy. The recipient must complete payment to receive the ticket.
  4. Enter the recipient’s email and optionally their name. Add more recipients as needed.
  5. Review email addresses, ticket type and invitation mode before selecting Send invitations.

Always check the invitation mode. A price on the ticket type does not by itself mean the invitation charges money. Choose the paid mode when the recipient should pay.

What does the recipient do?

The recipient opens the invitation and follows its instructions. They must use an account with the invited email address and may be asked to confirm it. Forwarding a personal invitation link does not give another account the right to buy that ticket.

A paid invitation is not an issued ticket. The purchase must be completed, and a pending invitation is not the same as a registered guest with a ticket.

Follow up

Under Invitations, search for the recipient’s email and review its status: Pending, Accepted, Expired or Revoked. Also check its expiry. An expired or revoked invitation cannot be used.

If the recipient cannot buy, check the invited email, whether the invitation remains valid, and whether the event’s other access requirements and sale window allow the purchase. Test with an ordinary invited account; an administrator may not see the same experience as the guest.
