Sell tickets for an unlisted event through a link
Share one event link with outside guests so they can buy without individual invitations. Includes setup and troubleshooting.
Use Unlisted when you want to share one event link by email, text or group chat and let anyone with the link buy a ticket, including people outside your organisation.
Set it up
- Open Connect, select the correct page and open Events.
- Open the event and find Edit event details from its overview.
- Set Visibility to Unlisted and save.
- Open the event’s Tickets and edit the ticket type guests should buy.
- Choose Open to everyone under ticket eligibility if people may buy without membership or school verification.
- Make sure ordinary buyers can see the ticket. Do not use Hidden ticket for an ordinary shared-link sale.
- Check price, quantity, status, sale start and sale end. Both the event and the ticket must be ready for sale.
- Share the event’s ordinary happenings.social link with guests.
An event link already shared can still be used after you change visibility to Unlisted. You do not need to create another event.
An unlisted event and a hidden ticket are different
- Unlisted event: accessible through its direct link and not listed in feeds or search.
- Hidden ticket: the ticket type is hidden from the ordinary ticket selection. This is not the setting for making the whole event accessible through a shared link.
Do we need personal invitations?
No, not for an ordinary shared-link sale. When the event is Unlisted and the ticket is Open to everyone without other restrictions, the event link is enough to access the sale.
To control exactly which people may buy, use personal ticket invitations instead.
Check before sharing
Open the event link in a private browser window. Check that the event and correct ticket appear and that you can continue to payment at the expected price. You do not need to complete payment to check this access.
If a guest is refused, check:
- Is the event still Invite only or Members only?
- Does the ticket require membership, school verification or a personal invitation?
- Are other audience requirements set on the event or ticket?
- Is the event published, the ticket active, the sale open and inventory available?
- Has the guest already reached a per-buyer limit?
An unlisted link can be forwarded. Use personal invitations when access must belong to a particular recipient.
