Create and publish a story in Connect
Post a photo update as your page, review live views, and remove a story before its 24-hour expiry.
Purpose
Post a short photo update as your page and manage the stories that are currently live.
Stories disappear automatically after 24 hours. The screen is a live view, not an archive.
Create a story
- Open Stories in Connect.
- Select New story.
- Select Choose a photo and pick the image you want to publish.
- Under Text, add an optional caption. Captions can contain up to 200 characters.
- Review the image and caption.
- Select Share.
The story is posted as the active page. If you manage more than one page, check the selected page in Connect before you start.
Review live stories
The Stories screen shows each live story with its view count and the time remaining before it expires.
Use the view count to understand how many people have opened the story. Stories older than 24 hours disappear and are not available from this screen afterward.
Remove a story early
Move the pointer over the story, focus its action, or open the available story controls. Select Delete story for the story you want to remove.
Deleting removes it from the live list. Confirm the correct image before taking it down.
Good story content
- Use a clear vertical image that works in a 9:16 frame.
- Keep important content away from the image edges.
- Use the caption for one short piece of context, not a long announcement.
- Post time-sensitive updates that still make sense for the next 24 hours.
- Use a regular post or page article when the content should remain available.
Troubleshooting
Share is unavailable
Choose a photo first. Text is optional, but every story needs an image.
The photo cannot be used
Choose another image and try again. The selected photo and caption stay in the composer when the server request fails, so you can retry without rebuilding the story.
You do not have permission
You need permission to create and edit posts for the active page. Ask a page owner or administrator to update your role.
The story disappeared
Stories expire after 24 hours. If it disappeared sooner, ask another page administrator whether it was deleted.
