Create and operate a membership plan in Connect

Connect Web

Configure plan benefits, price, eligibility, and expiry, then approve applicants and maintain the plan.

Purpose

Create a membership plan that people can understand and that your team can operate after launch.

Decide the plan rules first

Write down:

  • who may buy the plan;
  • what members receive;
  • the price and billing period;
  • whether renewal is allowed;
  • when memberships expire;
  • whether applicants require approval;
  • which team owns applicant review and member support.

Choose an expiry model

  • Rolling period expires a fixed period after each purchase or renewal.
  • Academic year makes memberships expire in the same month each year.
  • Fixed date ends every membership on one chosen date and does not renew.
  • A period of 0 means a one-time payment that never expires.

Choose the model based on the membership policy, not only the price label.

Step by step: create the plan

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Membership Plans.
  3. Select Add plan.
  4. Under Plan info, enter Plan name, URL slug, Card color, and a description.
  5. Under What's included, add the short benefits that should appear on the plan card.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Under Pricing & period, set Price, Period, and Expiry.
  8. Turn on Allow auto-renewal only when recurring renewal is part of the policy.
  9. Use Who can buy this to restrict the plan by verified study program, campus, or start year when required. Leave the restrictions empty when anyone may buy it.
  10. Use Highlight as recommended only when this should be the preferred plan.
  11. Select Continue.
  12. Under Review your plan, verify the public name, benefits, price, period, expiry, and eligibility.
  13. Select Create plan.
  14. Return to Membership Plans and confirm that the plan appears.

Test before sharing

  1. Open the buyer-facing join flow.
  2. Confirm the plan name, benefits, price, and expiry language.
  3. Test an eligible person and, when restrictions exist, an ineligible person.
  4. Complete a controlled test purchase when payment behavior must be verified.
  5. Confirm that the resulting member appears under Members with the correct plan and status.

Review applicants

If the page requires approval:

  1. Open Members.
  2. Select Applicants.
  3. Review the applicant’s name, email, and Applied {date}.
  4. Select Approve when the person meets the membership rules.
  5. Select Decline only after verifying the person and policy.
  6. Use Select all and the bulk actions only when every selected person has been reviewed under the same rule.
  7. Confirm that approved people appear in the active member list.

Declined applicants do not become members and can request to join again later.

Maintain the plan

Use Edit plan for deliberate changes. Before changing price, period, eligibility, or expiry, decide whether the change applies only to new purchases or requires communication or action for existing memberships.

When archiving a plan with active members, review the offered conversion to community titles and whether memberships should be removed. Do not archive a live plan without deciding how current members retain access and benefits.

Troubleshooting

The wrong people can buy the plan

Review Who can buy this and the members’ verified study data. The plan name does not enforce eligibility.

An applicant is missing

Search Members, check whether the person is already active, and verify that approval is enabled for the relevant join flow.

The expiry date is unexpected

Check the selected expiry model, period, cutoff month, and day. Fixed-date plans do not renew.
