Configure ticket sales for an event in Connect
Create ticket types, set stock and sale windows, enforce eligibility, test checkout, and control live sales.
Purpose
Configure ticket types so the right guests can buy the right ticket at the right price and time.
Before you start
Create the event and confirm its date, venue, capacity, and Ticketing flow. Use Happenings checkout when guests should purchase directly on Happenings.
List every audience and price before creating ticket types. For example, a member price and a public price are normally separate ticket types with different eligibility.
Step by step: create a ticket type
- Open Events and select the event.
- Open Tickets.
- Select Create ticket type.
- Under Basic information, enter Name, Description, Content language, and Price.
- Under Schedule, set Sale start and Sale end when this ticket should not use the event’s sale window.
- Set Quantity. Leave it empty or use 0 only when inventory should be unlimited.
- Under Order limits, set Min per order, Max per order, and Max per user as required.
- Under Eligibility & visibility, choose who can buy the ticket.
- Add Community title access or Membership plan access when the price is reserved for a defined group.
- Decide whether the ticket is public, private, or a Hidden ticket.
- Configure Early-bird pricing only when the lower price has a clear end date or quantity threshold.
- Save the ticket type.
Eligibility and visibility are different
Eligibility controls who can buy. Visibility controls who can see the ticket.
A ticket named “Member ticket” is not restricted by its name. If it should be members-only, set the eligibility or membership-plan restriction explicitly.
A Hidden ticket never appears to buyers. Only your team and people invited to that ticket can see it.
Review the ticket lineup
- Search or filter the list under Ticket Types.
- Compare Price, Claimed, Available, Sale window, Eligibility, Status, and Public for every row.
- Confirm that only the intended ticket types show On sale now.
- Check that the combined inventory matches the event’s operational capacity.
Test checkout
Use test accounts that cover:
- a public buyer;
- an active page member;
- a holder and non-holder of each restricted community title;
- a member and non-member of each restricted plan;
- the sale before and during the configured window;
- minimum, maximum, and per-user order limits.
Confirm the displayed price and the ticket delivered after payment.
Publish and monitor
Publish the event only after the event details, ticket lineup, checkout questions, and confirmation flow have been reviewed.
During sales, monitor Claimed, Available, Sales progress, and ticket status. Use Pause sales to stop new purchases temporarily and Resume sales when the issue is resolved.
Use Archive to remove a ticket type from sale while keeping existing purchases. Do not archive a type merely to correct one customer order.
Manual additions
Manual registration is only available for free RSVP events. For ticketed events, add guests through the Invitations tab rather than bypassing the ticket flow.
Troubleshooting
Non-members can buy the member ticket
Set Eligibility or Membership plan access. The ticket name alone does not restrict purchase.
Sales started too early
Pause the ticket type, correct the sale window, and review orders placed during the unintended period.
Inventory does not match capacity
Review quantities across all ticket types, including hidden and paused types. Do not assume one ticket type represents the entire event capacity.
